Who you are:

You will be responsible for championing the overall commercial performance of our digital marketing (SEO, PPC, Display, Affiliates, Paid Social, New customer acquisition), and the associated insights, analysis and innovation-roadmap to making us the best performance-marketing e-commerce retailer in the world.

Your remit will include leading, implementing and innovating best practice management of our global: paid search programs, SEO rankings/performance, display marketing/media and a framework of analysis and metrics that enable the business to understand its CPA and CAC, with a focus on improving LTV and growing new customers. The search for, and discovery of, new traffic and customer acquisition sources will be a critical part of this role.

KPI’s include, but not limited to, increased new customers, lower CPA and CAC, ROI, paid media spend (whilst maintaining or growing traffic and acquisition volumes, improved SEO rankings/revenue for key markets, improved retention and LTV of customers from these channels.

You will also be responsible for leading the Performance marketing team (currently 6 people) with a focus on empowering, coaching and developing team members. Team retention, morale and team member capability and competence growth is also a critical focus area for this leader.

This role will report to the CEO and will work closely with the Marketing and Content teams to ensure a smooth and joined up experience for our customers and brands – there are many moving parts so good organisation skills, active listening and a commercial intuition is essential. You’ll have a regular interface with all key team members and will regularly communicate directly with the senior leadership team members.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage the strategy, logic and deployment of acquisition and spend strategies that maximise new and existing customer conversion, retention, average order value, LTV whilst minimising bounce rates and attrition
  • Drive significant and rapid improvements in our SEO rankings, with a focus on building a framework for measuring and understanding the impact of these improvements
  • Liaise and agree SEO roadmap enhancements with our tech and content teams and ensure these are delivered in a timely, efficient and measurable manner.
  • Create and agree a suitable link building and or SEO awareness activity where appropriate
  • Lead the best practice of paid search marketing, either via our internal PPC teams and/or with relevant 3rd party technology/service providers
  • Validate the viability of display marketing/media, and where appropriate deploy such functionality and campaigns to agreed media targets.
  • Investigate other tools and technologies such as DMP’s and audience based targeting tools, or similar methodologies, to discover and secure new traffic opportunities.
  • Manage the engagement with our marketing, buying and merchandising teams to ensure the campaigns we are running support and elevate our brand and product merchandising calendar and strategy
  • Utilising our existing data sources and BI tools to create a roadmap of activities that will ultimately make us the best in class performance marketing retailer
  • Drive a culture of “relentless, continuous improvement” within the team, with a metrics-first mindset
  • Work closely with technology and senior performance marketing team members to ensure we are currently in a state of “permanent innovation” and implementing emerging relevant technologies and capabilities within our mar-tech capability set
  • Review the way that we collect information about visitors and customers and make recommendations so that data we collect will improve and enhance our targeting efforts
  • Ensure your team members are engaged, happy and growing within the context of your team, but also within the business as a whole.
  • Review, analyse and prepare management reporting designed for executives to understand and interpret how our performance efforts are performing
  • Identify ways that our performance marketing targeting capabilities and be leveraged to complement or grow other channels.


Must have:

  • Experience in a multi brand, ecommerce environment, ideally to a global audience
  • Experience growing and developing a best in class performance marketing program
  • Experience leading a team
  • A data driven people leader, with a continuous-improvement mindset
  • Ability to “sell an idea” internally and engage relevant leadership as part of that process
  • Drive to take initiative and make things happen, good project management skills are essential
  • Ability to spot issues before they occur
  • Very strong analytical and numerical capabilities
  • A structured and process-driven approach with meticulous attention to detail
  • Very comfortable to present to the executive team
  • An interest and curious mindset with a penchant for “new and cool” technologies
  • The ability to lead through others, and develop the potential of all team members


Nice to have:

  • Ideally a background within a luxury, apparel, or beauty environment
  • Business information tools such as Tableau or similar
  • Broader Digital marketing skills (CRM, Social)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or computer science or similar related field preferred but not essential.
