Modo25 welcomes three new starters

At Modo25, our ongoing recruitment drive is well underway. We have hired three fantastic new people to join our ever-expanding team. We’re super excited to welcome them to the team! They are:

  • Annika Dobberke – Performance Marketing Manager
  • Rob Young – Business Development Manager
  • Phoebe Scholtens – Digital Marketing & Sales Executive

We thought it would be a great idea to ask them a few questions to get to know them better…

Who are you and what is your role here at Modo25?

Phoebe: “My name is Phoebe Scholtens, and I am a 23-year-old graduate living in Leeds. I completed my bachelor’s degree at Nottingham Trent University in International Business with German with a high 2:1 and then went on to do a masters at the University of Leeds in Advertising and Marketing, where I bagged myself merit. Although I’ve only had a short time at Modo25 so far, I feel like I have been here for a lot longer (in a good way!). My role is a hybrid one, I work two days with the sales team and two days with the marketing team which enables me to get valuable insights from clients and what content pieces they would be interested in.”

Annika: “Hi, I am Annika and I am working as a Performance Marketing Manager here at Modo25.”

Rob: “Hi I’m Rob, and I am a Business Development Manager at Modo25.”

What attracted you to this job in the first place?

Phoebe: “I’ve always wanted to work in marketing and Modo25 really caught my attention. I was introduced to John through a mutual friend, Hedley, who had nothing but kind words to say about John and the team at Modo25. So, I was desperate to come and find out more. I did my research on the company and the work-life balance really stood out to me.”

Rob: “I knew John from working at a previous agency. I heard about his success in being able to organically grow businesses whilst providing excellent progression opportunities. That, combined with the company’s ethos and vision, joining Modo25 was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.”

Annika: “The first thing that drew me in was the opportunity to work in a start-up environment with the backbone of very experienced management. I am also really interested in further developing my skill set and working on exciting projects. The flexibility at Modo25 and the company’s ethos is great and we all contribute to making the world a little better every day.”

What were you doing before you joined Modo25?

Phoebe: “I was working in a recruitment company before starting at Modo25. In terms of marketing, I had done an internship as part of my bachelor’s degree in 2019 with an agency names Elliott’s agency – a food and beverage marketing agency. During my time there, I worked with clients such as RedBull and Deliveroo but also took charge of a coffee shop case study and wrote an insert for the economist for the CEO of Elliott’s, Ann.”

Annika: “I worked as a European PPC Strategist for an online retailer and spent a lot of time in academia.”

Rob: “Before joining Modo25, I’d spent just under five years in business development for other digital agencies.”

How is working here different from anywhere else you have worked?

Phoebe: “I’m amazed at how flexible the company is and how much they care for the well-being of the team. There isn’t a hierarchical atmosphere here and everyone genuinely gets on really well – no matter what level they are at.  Everyone feels valued and listened to within Modo25, which isn’t done enough within other workplaces and is a really refreshing change.”

Rob: “A lot of companies talk about doing charitable work and giving back. Very few others can say that the name of the company has a direct link to a charitable cause, which is really unique. That, on top of the flexibility that the company offers, is fantastic.”

Annika: “The flexibility definitely – and a flat hierarchy which enables quick decision making and our contribution to charitable causes, of course!”

What do you like to do in your free time?

Phoebe: “I have three horses, so, that takes up the vast majority of my time. I enjoy going out competing at the weekends and ride every evening during the week too. But other than that, I enjoy going skiing every year around Christmas time and going to social events with my friends.”

Annika: “I like travelling, meeting friends and family, art, music and walking the dog.”

Rob: “I like to keep active by going to the gym regularly. I also enjoy reading, listening to audiobooks, and generally socialising with friends.”

How do you describe your job to a 10-year-old?

Phoebe: “I sell a service and a product to companies who need help with their marketing. I also write exciting pieces of content that keep Modo25 ahead of the curve.”

Rob: “I am responsible for increasing the number of companies that we work with.”

Annika: “I am introducing businesses to their customers without them having to leave the couch.”
