We were excited to host a free online fireside chat through Zoom yesterday, where we were joined by a panel of marketing and retail experts to discuss the pros and cons of inhousing your digital marketing.
Is now the time to review how you manage your digital marketing? Could inhousing be a better option for your business?
In our hour-long session, we discussed the effects of COVID-19 on the industry and whether this will have an impact on inhousing. We covered the following topics:
- When is the right time to inhouse?
- How to find the right talent
- How to manage and motivate the inhouse team
- Is it cheaper to manage inhouse or with an agency?
- KPI measurement and best practice inhouse
Diane Young, CEO and Co-Founder of The Drum hosted the discussion – Diane is a well-respected figure in the industry and we originally asked her to join the panel, but she kindly volunteered to chair proceedings.
She was joined alongside our CEO John Readman, Don Williams, Retail Partner at KPMG UK and Minter Dial, former Global VP of Marketing for L’Oréal – and now a Global Marketing Specialist.
Diane commented on the current challenges that the industry is facing: “The current economic conditions are putting pressure on the classic agency model and brands have had to pivot quickly in terms of how they spend their budget. This could well be a crossroad for many brand marketers in terms of how they approach strategy, execution and media.”
We received a great response and an overwhelming amount of questions, so much so that we will be following these up in the next few weeks. If you missed the session, you can watch the recording above.
When it comes to digital marketing, we believe that there is a third option – supported inhousing; a hybrid model which gives our clients the best of both worlds. Through specialist training and development, we empower inhouse teams to take control of their own marketing success and ultimately grow and develop their department.
