Future of office working: Modo25’s approach

With the world slowly returning to some kind of normality, we take a look at what the future of office working might look like. Here at Modo25, our team has total flexibility and trust when it comes to working remotely. Even before lockdown, we would have people working from the office, at home and even the other side of the world.

As we emerge from the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s clear to see that office working will likely never be the same again. For some, it proved how much more productive they can be at home. Meanwhile, for others, it highlighted just how much they need the office to help concentrate and separate their work and home life.

Luckily, at Modo25, we have the choice of how and where we would like to work. With that said, it has emphasised how we all work differently to be the most effective and efficient that we can be.

Those in favour of office working

Abby, one of our Content Marketing Executives, is looking forward to a best of both worlds approach to work, saying: “I’m now back in the office once or twice a week and enjoying the flexibility of working both remotely and in the office. The regulations only allow six of us in the office at one time which is managed through an online calendar. This means we are all safe and spaced apart, but it is lovely to get back to a social environment!”

Similarly, Kylie, our Performance Marketing Executive, is also looking forward to the more workable routine: “A couple of days in the office a week sounds perfect to me. After the first few weeks of being at home all the time, I soon got a bit lonely and do like to go into the office to see people and not just screens. Obviously, being able to work from home has its perks in terms of time and money-saving. However, I do feel like I’m still at a stage in my career where I need training. Face to face always works better than a video call.”

Those in favour of remote working

Although, not everyone feels the same way. Tom Pickard, Performance Marketing Manager here at Modo25, feels happy to continue working from home for the foreseeable: “In terms of work, the main benefit is that I can attend a pitch meeting and then crack on with some other work straight after. This is far more productive than spending the whole day driving to and from face to face meetings. When it comes to home life, I’ve found I have more time to focus on being healthy. Whether it’s running after work or cooking meals, I’ve had a lot more time to invest in myself.”

Our Lead Data Scientist, Mike, echoes Tom’s thoughts, saying: “Working from home makes me happy, relaxed and allows me to be the best version of myself. I have more time to do what I want to outside of work, like spending time with my family. In my opinion, there is still a place for working in the office. I can’t wait for the next time I will get to see everyone – especially colleagues who started during the lockdown.”

How we will continue to work going forward

The Modo25 team are currently rotating our time in the office by using an online calendar. This allows us to arrange a day to meet colleagues we need to work with in person without breaking any government advice on social distancing.

For us, it looks like the future of office working will be radically different from how it was at the start of the year. Most of our team is looking forward to embracing a mix of both remote and office working.

How do you feel about office working – are you happy to go back, stay at home or maybe make the most of both?
